This was by far my favorite Airbnb. It had all the aloha vibe I wanted. Beautiful secluded garden setting with Mountain View. A cozy cottage, with all the essentials needed to make it an effortless stay. The bed was very comfortable and there was a hot tub, washer/dryer. The hosts welcomed us with papaya and banana bread. A most enjoyable stay. Mahalo!

We absolutely loved our time at Iao Valley Inn. Tamara and Bob were so welcoming and friendly! The banana bread they left for us was a nice touch and very tasty. The property is lovely and their dog Kahu is so sweet. We enjoyed roaming around observing the birds and the farm. Tamara is a gifted painter and gave us a beautiful set of cards with her work as a parting gift. We loved spending time in the hot tub at the end of the day and listening to the sounds of the river running right by the cabin. So peaceful and cozy and we would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Wow what a wonderful place. From the minute we arrived we felt welcomed and relaxed. So lovely to see escape the heat and people after a day sightseeing. Nice and quiet location on a large estate. So that it was a bit out of the way, but that’s what we were looking for. Very nice, helpful hosts and great rooms. We felt really very comfortable. For the price, of course, no bargain and at breakfast you could certainly – at least for Europeans – do a little bit more. But the prices were known to us before and you can live well with the breakfast, it is just different

We spent 5 nights in the Cottage and had the most relaxing and peaceful vacation. We were awoken by the birds in the morning and fell asleep to the sounds of the river at night.
It was wonderful to be able to cook and enjoy the fresh fruits that were in the Cottage on our arrival.
Thanks to Tamara and Bob for giving us a new home away from home! It was the perfect getaway and we can’t wait to return!

We had such a wonderful time staying at the cottage for our honeymoon. Tamara and Robert are wonderful hosts and very responsive to any and all questions I had. Kahu their dog is such a sweet pupper too.
The cottage is beautiful and has anything you could need for your vacation. It feels like a home away from home. The washer and dryer were a nice addition so we had nice clean clothes after beach days.
The hot tub was AMAZING to soak our sore bodies in at the end of day. Of course, the air conditioner was an absolute must for us being from Texas and all. The bed was super comfy and the shower nice and oversized. The view from the yard is amazing, beautiful mountains with lush forest.
We spent every morning having breakfast and listening to the birds chirping and the river running before embarking on our day. I would 1000% recommend staying here, you won’t regret it.

Stayed in February. My wife says staying in the cottage is like staying in a treehouse. I think it’s like staying in a terrarium. Whether you choose the cottage or one of the two rooms, you will find your perfect hideaway. Iao Valley Inn is just that: an inn nestled in the Iao Valley, complete with expansive lush foliage, the Iao River, waterfall and a chorus of birds. It’s hard to imagine you’re only a five-minute drive from Wailuku! Some guests are somewhat intimidated when making a turn into the property. Tamara and Bob have produced an ingenious video to steer first visitors to the inn.
Once you’ve arrived at the inn at your designated parking space, you will appreciate the care the hosts have provided. We chose The Cottage for its privacy and facilities: king bed, excellent shower, full kitchen, even washer and dryer. Outside the entrance is a large patio with a large table and four comfortable chairs for taking your meals. You might consider investing in a mosquito coil to keep the mosquitoes away.
Beyond the patio is a large green expanse with a gazebo and a private hot tub for Cottage guests only. The gazebo can be used as a meditation room or for massage. Frankly, the whole area is conducive to meditation!
I should point out that the hosts have recently installed Roku, a streaming service for those wishing to choose from thousands of films and TV programs. Unfortunately, except for Hawaii PBS, local programming isn’t available. Breakfasts are included for guests of the two rooms. The Cottage will feature a starter assortment of juice, fruit, and banana bread from the Four Sisters Bakery.
It didn’t take much time for my wife to say ‘Wow!” In fact, we’ve already reserved for next year.

6 nights in January. We found the Iao Valley Inn to be a great place to stay during our week in Maui. The Inn is set in its own very private, beautiful and extensive grounds and is an oasis of peace and tranquility.
Furthermore, it is just a short drive from the airport, close to good facilities and central enough to have allowed us to explore the entire island during our stay.
Tamara and Bob were great hosts, the former providing us with fresh water, fresh fruit and tasty breakfast treats on a daily basis. We felt really comfortable there and would certainly re-book if we ever had the opportunity in the future.

Perfect stay. The place is manicured and well furnished. They even have beach chairs and boogie boards and coolers for the guests to use at the beach. Breakfast is great, varied, and provided every evening in your fridge. The place is completely secluded in a lush area, always cooler because of the mountains and the breeze. This cottage is amazing. By far the best thing we did in Hawaii. It is very private and makes you feel that you are welcome. Hated to leave.

Iao Valley Inn is a hidden GEM! Centrally located to the north, west, and southwest coasts as well as the airport. I highly recommend staying in the cottage – full kitchen, outdoor grill, washer/dryer, hot tub private use of an enclosed gazebo for yoga/meditation or massages.
The cottage is super private and on gorgeous property – it felt like we were on our own private tropical retreat! We were welcomed with local fresh fruit, juice, and banana bread. Will be booking again! Stayed 6 nights in Feb 2023

A really beautiful place especially if you’re looking for a quieter, peaceful and a more private retreat after a day of activities. We had a great time there.
The cottage stands alone on its own with a gazebo, equipped with a massage bed, only a few steps away. The washroom and kitchen were equipped with all necessary basic amenities. There is also a washer and dryer available for use. The highlight for us was the private hot tub which we could not find anywhere else on the island.
Rob is very communicative and responsive on airbnb chat, Tamara also personally greeted us and made us feel really welcome! I would highly recommend this place.

We stayed here during our 1 week stay in Maui. As a family of 4 we chose to stay at the single unit bungalow.
Location is not very centralized but if you have a rental car, it is actually not that far from other attractions or city Centre. This accommodation is kind of hidden, you need to follow the instructions given by the host on how-to reach there. Too bad the place of interest of Iao valley was closed when we were there. Once you find the place, you need to code to open the main gate (given by the host) and then you need to drive down a very steep winding road which will lead you to the bungalow and the rest of the complex.
A parking spot is given just next to the bungalow. The bungalow looks very simple from the outside but once you step in, you will really like how the interiors are set up. A very cozy and pretty sitting area, with a king-size bed just after it. All with the Hawaiian upholsteries. This very Hawaiian vibe. A big wardrobe next to the bed to store your clothing. A bowl of fresh fruit welcomed us at the kitchen pantry and baked sweet buns. Everything looks so immaculate.
The kitchenette is big and complete enough for us to prepare simple meals. We used it primarily for breakfast. The kitchen has a view of the garden. I just love the peace and quiet of the garden view every morning while waiting for my coffee to brew. The bathroom is also spacious. Towels are folded neatly. The shower cabin is big too.
Apart from this bungalow, there is a separate small unit at the garden. A smaller unit to accommodate another 2 guests, in our case, our 2 older kids. This smaller unit is equipped with a portable AC and a wardrobe.
2 sun loungers are provided at the garden. Also a table with 4 seats. And a terrace to chill or to dine. Beach equipment are well prepared too (beach umbrella, towels etc.)
It is definitely a place to come for a good rest. Highly recommended.

This is a beautiful place, just off the road but close to everything. The hosts were kind and wonderful. I usually stay at hotels but loved this charming place.

7 nights in December. We booked the Palms room for our honeymoon. Tamara and Bob were wonderful hosts, and Kathy does a superb job cleaning before guest arrival. Amenities such as beach towels, boogie boards, and bug spray were always available (things we did not think about bringing).
We were able to try different fresh fruit as Tamara stocked a mini fridge with fresh fruit, juice, and water as well as either banana bread or a pastry (at no additional cost). We also had access to a coffee maker which was used regularly.
The property is beautiful and easy to find. It is in the perfect location for exploring Maui and there’s a beautiful view right off the lanai (porch) of the mountains and of sunrises/sunsets.
They do have a dog, Kahu, who is incredibly friendly and not skittish or hyper. While we do love dogs anyways and enjoyed giving her pets, she is perfectly safe for families with children or those who are nervous around dogs. We didn’t hear her bark, she responds well to directions, and does not follow you around the property. Very well trained.
Any issues we had were immediately addressed by Tamara or Bob and they make themselves readily available (even before 7 am—sorry, Bob!).
Overall, we gratefully enjoyed our stay and have decided if we return to Maui we have every intention of staying there again.

Experience Hawaii’s Inner Beauty in Lush Iao Valley.
We stayed in the Palms Room at this bed and breakfast for a week in October 2022. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was very comfortable and very nicely decorated. We had an attached outdoor terrace that had a privacy screen from the room next door.
Amenities included a Keurig with coffees, teas; microwave, refrigerator, dishes and cutlery. The refrigerator was stocked daily with fresh water, juice and fruit. A heavy glass covered dish had a different and delicious pastry each day. Available for guests were beach chairs, beach towels and coolers.
Our views were just beautiful…to our left were the mountains of Iao Valley – lush and green and often crowned with wispy tropical clouds. To our right we could see all the way to the ocean through a break in the foliage.
There is a waterfall on the property that provides the perfect background of peacefulness. While it did rain frequently (we were in a tropical valley!), the rain – and refreshing breezes, added to the overall atmosphere of lushness and beauty…and we were able to be outside comfortably sheltered to enjoy it.
And when we were ready, the dry and sunny beaches were short drives away. Our hostess was gracious and checked in on us each day.
We combined a week here with a week at a beachside resort for the ‘pools’ experience. While the resort was wonderful, we did miss our B and B in the valley!

This was our first time in Maui and found this gem by doing a search online for the best places to stay. We booked the cottage for 7 nights for a family of 4. Our 9- year-old twins stayed in the gazebo that is located next to the cottage and they loved the privacy. The owners thought of everything as the cottage was fully equipped to become our home away from home. The cottage and gazebo were clean, the shower is very large, and we loved having a washer and dryer. We went grocery shopping the first day we were there and the full-sized fridge was perfect to hold all the food. We also never needed to use the A/C because the weather is so perfect you can sleep with the windows open. The cottage and gazebo are next to a river and a waterfall that make a natural sound machine at night. It was heaven! I loved being away from crowds to experience paradise quietly. We drove to a beach in different parts of the island every day and didn’t mind the drive since we were on island time and didn’t care about arriving at a certain time. The drive was beautiful no matter where we went even if it took us 45 min to get to the furthest beaches. I would highly recommend this place and we hope to return again soon!

5 nights in April. Great Location on maui. After five days near Lahaina in a large house with eight other family members, we recuperated at the Iao Valley Inn.
It was the perfect place for R and R: secluded and peaceful. If you’re looking for old Hawaiian charm, this is the place. The “farm” consists mostly of tropical fruits; although coffee beans were grown here until the trees were destroyed in a flood not too many years ago.
We never used the TV or the A/C, but they are there if you want to use them. We really enjoyed our private lanai and the breakfasts that Tamara provided each day.
We usually had dinner (take-out from nearby grocery stores or restaurants) on the lanai. What a great way to end the day. After a fairly heavy rainstorm late one afternoon, the waterfall took on a different personality.
Who needs a sound machine at night with such a strong-sounding waterfall! Tamara is a lovely host at a very restful inn located in a convenient spot on the island. It is a short drive to the airport, restaurants, stores, and beaches.
Tamara will have ideas to help anyone have a great stay in Maui.

This is the second time I’ve been to Maui but first time staying here.
I really enjoyed staying in this location versus one of the hotel/resorts – it’s central to getting to the various edges of the island. If you are looking to see ALL of the island, this is a great spot – because the pick up point for our ‘Road to Hana’ tour was only <15 mins drive. (had we been in on of the resorts, we would have to wait for a second shuttle.)
It felt like a B&B. There are 3 main stays so not a ton of tourist/people walking about, you basically have the whole place to yourself!
The experience is very serene and calm, it’s situated off the main roads and you’re surrounded by breathtaking views. Some of the best sleep I got in a while – feeling completely safe.
Another treat I look forwarded to every morning was the fresh cut fruit and pastry the owners would provide. There was good variety during the week we stayed and everything was delicious.
Some other points: Stayed for a week, saw only 2 bugs total – no roaches or ants, beach stuff available to borrow, fridge/microwave

Stayed in January. Iao Valley Inn was the first non-Kihei location my wife and I have ever stayed (in 10+ trips to Maui over the last 35 years); and we were very grateful we made the change.
While technically in Wailuku, you’d never know it; and this central location was ideal for sightseeing around the island. The grounds were beautiful. The sounds of the jungle (especially of the nearby stream) were a wonderful way to wake up in the morning as well as to de-stress throughout the day.
Tamara and Bob were very wonderful and attentive hosts. Kahu (their German Shepherd) was a loving protector of the guests. The comfy bed and clawfoot bathtub were lovely accents of the Orchid room (the multiple mini-refrigerators were also quite helpful); and having the lanai for dining and taking-in the ambience was a major plus.
We highly recommend staying here, and would easily do so ourselves should we plan another trip to this incredible island.

Stayed in Dec 2021. We’ve just returned from a week at the lovely IAO Valley Inn. The property is beautiful, peaceful and couldn’t be more different than a typical hotel stay (in a good way of course).
It’s a great central location to all Maui has to offer and if you enjoy the beauty of the “green” side of Maui then I encourage you to spend at least part of your vacation here.
Sleeping to the sound of waterfalls is a memory I will never forget!

Tamara was the best host. She is very welcoming and always one text away. She brings us breakfast every day. I love pastries and fresh fruits, especially the papayas.
The location is really clean and nice. There’s a waterfall in the area. Our stay was very relaxing and away from most of the tourists.
Oh, and I love their dog Kahu. She’s so friendly. I Definitely recommend this place. Thank you for having us. We will definitely book here again if we go back to Maui. Mahalo!

Iao Valley Inn is a beautiful property with lush greenery and mountain fog. We stayed in the house just next to the main property and loved it! The hosts provided a wonderful welcome that included fresh fruit, banana bread, juice and milk. Plus, the place comes equipped with all the beach tools you could want!
Be mindful that this is in the valley and not Lahaina (a 30-40 drive) so the town closes pretty early (most places by 8 or 9pm). Not a big deal if you’re cooking in the kitchen or with the grill provided because there’s a nearby grocery, but a little more challenging if you’re coming back late/r from a full day.

When you go to Maui, you think of beaches and resorts. This is not that experience.
Instead, it’s in a park and surrounded by green. For some, that might be a letdown. But we loved it there.

The location is absolutely beautiful with a waterfall visible on the grounds. Hidden within the trees and foliage, it is peaceful and quiet. If you aren’t in Maui just for the ocean, the location here is perfectly located in central Maui with easy driving access to the rest of the island. We did the road to Hana, the summit of Haleakala, went swimming at a beach in Wailea, and walked around town in Lahaina before going to a luau -among many other fun stops that would have been more trouble to get to if we were at a beach resort on one side of the island.
Just a head’s up from our experience, make sure you have received the gate code BEFORE getting to the Iao Valley Inn. The gate is about a car’s length from the road on a steep decline. If you turn onto the driveway without the code, it’s difficult to safely reverse out of the spot.

This was our first ‘off-beach’ stay on the island of Maui and wow are we sure happy we chose the Iao Valley Inn. The accommodations are pristine and the property and gardens will not disappoint. We stayed at the Iao Valley Inn, during our first visit to Maui. Tamara is a gracious hostess, very helpful, but never intruding! Their home and property are a little piece of heaven! We very much enjoyed staying in the Palms Room. The Continental breakfast that was out each morning by 7:30, was very generous, and delightful! Access to the laundry and the kitchen is always available! We would happy recommend this location to family and friends and hope to return ourselves, someday!

We arrived late at night, after traveling for 24 hours – what a welcome. A clean, spacious cottage with welcoming light – we awoke to a tropical paradise with the relaxing sound of water and a delicious breakfast spread (complete with famous banana bread). We couldn’t have had a better experience. The Iao Valley Inn is perfectly located to explore the island – easy to get to the different sides and a restful break from the tourist bustle of the rest of the island. Easy to come and go as you please it felt like our own little piece of eden.
The cottage has everything you need, and there is an umbrella, beach chairs, towels, cool box – everything you need for a lazy day (or two) on the beach. There was also a handy guide book which visitors pass one from one guest to the next – you can tell what’s popular. Cannot recommend this enough.

I stayed in the cottage which is located on the banks of Wailuku river and falls. It has a Lanai and private garden, Wi-Fi, and cable TV. Kitchen is fairly complete, micro wave, fridge, Keurig coffee maker, dishwasher and disposal. Walk-in shower is superb. Private, comfortable and lovely.
Limited storage space, one large closet with shelves, no dresser or desk. It’s a cottage, not a luxury hotel suite! But preferable in my estimation. Finding the place is daunting— not complicated or far, just somewhat secluded. Arrival before dark is recommended.

We hadn’t been on a real vacation in so long. The cottage at Iao Valley Inn was perfect – very secluded yet so easy to venture out to all the special Maui places. The hostess and host were very friendly and respectful of our privacy. It was very rainy before and at times during our visit, so the Iao Stream was a big river, quite fascinating to see the waterfall and river in action. We certainly enjoyed our stay and will recommend it to our friends and family.

My wife and I were on a belated honeymoon and wanted a place that was quiet and peaceful. The beach hotels just didn’t do it for us. We found the Iao Valley Inn and stayed for 4 days. Tamara greeted us and welcomed us to their Inn. She gave us a good description of what was what on their property and the island. She and Bob were very hospitable and friendly and made themselves available if we needed anything. The lanai was great for having breakfast, provided by Tamara. Fresh papaya with strawberries and some kinds of nut breads. Coffee and tea were also available.
Previous guests left plenty of almost anything we needed as a sort of guest gift for others. Nothing was lacking. At night we sat on the lanai, had a couple of drinks, listened to the creek and watched the stars. One night I saw green phosphorescent things scurrying up the trees by the creek. I couldn’t figure out what they were. It was like a sci-fi or acid trip (which I’ve never done). I asked Tamara what they were and she said….it was a laser light display dancing through the trees. I felt embarrassed but got a laugh out of it. Up the canyon less than a mile is a Park that is worth visiting. The hike is easy and not that long. Once we knew our way around the island, the location was a great choice. If you want the “old” feel of Maui, this location will give you that earlier time kind of feeling. It was a great place to stay. ENJOY!

This cottage is located in a valley a short distance from the paved street with a beautiful view of mountains and a stream running nearby. It is the perfect size for a couple. The bed was very comfortable; the living area very adequate with flat screen TV. A bar for eating was available, but we preferred to eat on the lanai watching the sun rise over the mountain.
The bathroom is larger than most hotels, especially the shower. A stacking washer and dryer were very handy for getting laundry done in preparation for flying to another island. Although we did not meet Tamara, Bob was very helpful at check-in and a great host.

We had a lovely week in Maui, enjoying the central location of the Iao Valley Inn. Our hosts were very helpful and hospitable. We borrowed their boogie boards, camping chairs and cooler for some awesome days at the beach. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable located at the foot of the West Maui Forest Reserve.
The property is quite large with a nice grassy area and benches close to their impressive 20-foot waterfall. Very peaceful and private! And the breakfasts were delicious too!

We stayed here at the end of Dec for 9 days in the cottage. It was a perfect setting – stream next door, lanai for outdoor seating, a gazebo with an extra bed. We did not want to stay by the beach – the prices were ridiculous and most seemed very commercial. On the other hand, the cottage provided a very unique Hawaiian experience – which is what we were looking for! The cottage comes with coffee machine, basic kitchen utensils and supplies etc. so we ended up having breakfast in the cottage everyday. There is a grocery store very close by and several restaurants nearby, so it turned out to be very convenient.

When we were there the Iao Valley State Park had been closed for several months due to storm damage so if visiting the park is important to you I’d recommend you check before you book.

I’ve been going to Maui 2 or 3 times a year for almost 10 years now and have to say that this is now my favorite place to stay on the island. The plantation style cottage and rooms are beautiful, the property inspiring, and the owners practically feel like family now. And…if you stay in the rooms, the island style breakfasts are over the top! If you want quiet, authentic Hawaii with a lot of ohana and aloha, this is your place.

Dear Tamara and Bob, Thank you so much for a perfect week we enjoyed in your Iao Valley Inn. Itʻs like paradise here. We just loved everything especially your hospitality and all the good ideas your gave for places to visit and see. We could even use Bobʻs computer to load down/up pictures, wash our clothes…which are things that are not usual. Thanks for the nice chats we had, it was the best place weʻve found on our long, long journey. What an awesome finish of a great holiday. Tahe care and remember, Austria is also a nice place to go to. Youʻll be very welcomed, always and whenever you plan to go to Europe.

Tamara and Bob, Thank you very much for sharing your paradise spot with us. We were very comfortable and enjoyed meeting and talking to you both. The torrential rains and flash flood events were new to our Maui experience. The falls are beautiful and peaceful when no raging. The raging water was adventurous and gave us a great sense of Mother Natureʻs beauty and power. Love the smell of your awesome basil plants, your hospitality was grand, including the welcome watchful eye of Mango. In addition, it was fun to find we have a common person in our lives. Very cool. It began 48 hours before it started…A ferry through the Aleutians, a drive up to the Kenai Peninsula and two flights later we collapsed on the day bed. We immediately felt the sense of relaxation we had been seeking. Leif and I were Tamaraʻs & Bobʻs fifth guests. We had an unforgettable time in Maui and most especially at the Inn! Leif proposed to me at the foot of the bed…we will never forget the time we spent here.
